Of course, I later regretted my kneejerk fundamentalism, and have since replaced some of the old vinyls with CDs. But my music collection continues to lean more towards unhip Christian or spiritual music, so I suppose my cause is seen by the arbiters of cool as hopeless.
Is it just me, or is there something pretentious about Rolling Stone presenting itself as the arbiter of pop culture coolness these days? Shouldn't that honor really go to Spin? Not that Spin would ever claim such a title. That would be too uncool.
(Update: It appears that Spin really isn't too cool to create a pretentious cool list of its own. It's from February, and I've just now noticed.)
At least I'm not alone in my uncoolness: A blog I like has recently been deemed uncool in this pan.
