Gym night. Last night was the monthly gym night for the youth group. Since we had played volleyball the previous month, and basketball the month before, I had decided -- upon the urging of one faithful attendee -- to set up a game of indoor plungerball. (Plungerball is like softball, only instead of a bat, players use a plunger, and instead of a softball, players use a rubber kickball.) Naturally this resulted in a schism with some of the boys who always want to play basketball. But even after the game of plungerball (the boys won, 5-1), we still had time for a couple of pick-up games of basketball. I even got in on a three-on-three game, but some of these teenage boys are getting pretty athletic. I definitely felt my age after about 20 minutes of hoops.
I doubt I'll be blogging much over the next couple of days. I'm leaving in the morning for San Jose, California, to attend a meeting of ministers from the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. (I'll be presenting on Saturday.) But if I get bored in the hotel, and after I'm through with any last-minute tweaks on my PowerPoint, I may plug in the laptop for a bit of late-night blogging. We'll see how it goes.
