Reality TV bites. The campus where I work has a connection to the world's most visible bachelor. The hottie of the moment who landed the starring role in the so-called reality TV series The Bachelor is a graduate of UMR. His identity was revealed to a waiting nation Wednesday night. His hometown newspaper called me for a quote, and not wanting to disappoint, I gave them one. It's at the bottom of this front-page story. But for those who wish to cut to the chase, here's my oh-so-salient, spokespersonesque quote in context:
Andrew Careaga, manager for public relations at UMR, hopes (Aaron) Buerge’s national exposure might change campus demographics — currently three guys for every woman. “I think it’s a great opportunity to get some additional national exposure for the campus — and maybe we’ll attract more women to our program, too, which we’re always trying to do.”
One of these days, one of my bosses is going to read what I say in the newspapers, and I'm going to get in trouble.
