Thanks to superb pitching; clutch hitting by Roger Cedeno (yes, we have a Roger, too), Albert Pujols and Scott Rolen; a perfectly executed squeeze play; a great defensive play by Jim Edmonds (still the best center fielder in the NL); fantastic chess moves by Tony LaRussa; and a great hometown crowd, the St. Louis Cardinals rocked the Rocket Roger Clemens and the Astros Thursday night to earn a trip to the World Series for the first time since 1987. They'll face the American League champs, the gritty Boston Red Sox, for the third time (previously in 1946 and 1967). (So yes, Len, although I passed on your wager [didn't read your comment until this morning; sorry], the Cardinals will indeed be heading to Beantown. But beware the mighty Redbirds, Fenway faithful!
