Cardinals sweep Padres in NLDS I am groggy this morning, after staying up well past 1 a.m. to watch the St. Louis Cardinals win the third and final game of their best-of-five series against the San Diego Padres, but I feel much better now that this series is over. The Cardinals may look dominating on paper, but the outcome of this game, like the first in this series, could have been different. The Cards won, 7-4, but not before another Maalox moment from Jason Isringhausen in the ninth inning.
Anyway, no one expected the Padres to advance, so the Cards took care of business. Now they'll face either Houston or Atlanta for the NL Championship. The Astros are the most likely contenders, so it could be an exciting showdown between the two best NL Central teams, and a replay of last year's NL finals.
