Most underrated guitarists ever
Today begins a new countdown: the top 10 most underrated guitarists ever.

We've all read the passionate arguments for the guitar greats. Is Hendrix better than Clapton, yada yada...But you won't hear about any of the usual "guitar greats" suspects here over the coming days. Instead, you'll hear about those underrated, underappreciated guitarists who never seem to make the cut, but should.

So, let's get started.

10. Carlos Santana

OK, I'll grant you that Santana is often mentioned among the greatest guitarists in rock. But he's never as high up on the list as he should be. This man can bend and twist and hold a note like nobody's business, and he makes his guitar sing. His solos are full of passion. Santana's love overflows into his instrument; that much is obvious.

Also, the guy has proven he's no flash in the pan. He's been around forever -- he played at Woodstock, for cryin' out loud -- and he's still going strong.

Santana is also a brilliant collaborator. He shares the stage. His Supernatural album was all about working with other artists -- from Rob Thomas to Lauryn Hill. And his upcoming release, All That I Am, is another study in collaboration. He seems to have no huge ego getting in the way of his talents. Maybe that's why we don't appreciate him as much as we should, because he isn't out there talking up how great he is, but letting his craftsmanship do the talking.
