The ultimate flying machine If only I'd had the instructions to this design back in seventh grade, old Mrs. Cottingham wouldn't have known what hit her.
The Times of Londonreports that three engineering students at Leeds University have created a paper airplane that can fly more than 100 feet, remain aloft for about 20 seconds and, best of all, is easy to make. (Click on the graphic at right for a link to the instructions.) "The plane, named Avenger, has been judged by academics to contain the ideal balance between complex aerodynamic principles and simplicity of design. Its looks may also have helped: the delta wing is reminiscent of Concorde."
