Mapping music and movies with liveplasma Here's an interesting website for music and movie fans. liveplasma can help fans find new music or connect to related artists through the site's mapping algorithms that create a solar system of relationships. The site bills itself as "your personal discovery tool for bands and movies."
So if there's a certain band you like -- the White Stripes, for example -- just type the band name into the liveplasma search engine, and the site will create a map a musical metaverse for you, with Jack and Meg White at the center of it.

A sidebar provides Amazon.com links to the White Stripes music. But if you want to check out another artist in a nearby galaxy -- the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, for instance -- just click on that planet and the site will reorder the universe in a Yeah Yeah Yeah centric sort of way, like so.

According to the site's help files, the data is "grouped according to interests, style, epoch and other criteria which suggest that somebody will like it."
The site doesn't always work, though. I typed "hives" in the search engine, and it gave me "Burl Ives."
