eMusic news: I want my MTV eMusic TV? eMusic has launched television campaign to try to get more customers. The spots are decent, and drive home the point that eMusic is the anti-iTunes, a true source for independent music. (Whatever that means.) Watch eMusic's New TV Commercials.
Some recent faves from eMusic (click to hear samples):
Death of the Party -- funky, martial electronica/techno/dance from Kudu (and released in advance).
The Greatest and You Are Free, by Cat Power. I've already blogged about my love affair with Cat's latest, The Greatest, but after downloading it, I went back to listen to You Are Free, and I think that 2003 offering is even better.
Fox Confessor Brings the Flood, which is alt-country darling Neko Case's latest. She sounds more like Patsy Cline than ever. I think I'll send a tune or two to Big Brother, so he can listen to something other than Toby Keith.
Discotheque -- delicious Eurotrash electronica from Stereo Total. Funniest track: the cover of the Rolling Stones' "Mother's Little Helper," which sounds as though it's being sung by a Berlin cabaret act.
Rockin' At Ground Zero -- The Gears. I had to throw some punk into the mix. Not the greatest surf-punk in the world, but different -- half of this album is worth downloading; leave the rest.
And now for the obligatory commercial:
