Friday Five, YouTube edition I'm getting addicted to YouTube, especially since I discovered a cache of old Clash and Joe Strummer videos out there. So, in honor of Friday and the ol' Friday Five, here are five YouTube videos for your viewing pleasure.
Let's start off with a little 1-2-3-4!, shall we?
Early Ramones performing "Judy Is a Punk." Crappy sound but great black and white video capturing them in their natural state. Thanks, Ramones2!
The New Pornographers, performing "Jackie, Dressed in Cobras," live. (Wish that guy in the blue jacket would stay out of the frame. But actually, that's what makes this video kind of humorous.) Thanks to YouTuber Psychopath June for uploading it.
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls. The Clash's "London Calling" video. Via cgrovewarrior.
More Clash, you say? How about "Clampdown," performed live and from the CD The Essential Clash. Great interview clip at the beginning to put the song -- and the Clash, and Mick Jones -- into perspective. Thanks to YouTuber mochuisle.
We end with Joe Strummer in his post-Clash incarnation as leader of the Mescalero, performing another Clash classic, "Rudie Can't Fail." Via the long lost Ramone, Adam.
