Friday 5: Pistols vs. Clash podcast edition Michele at Faster Than the World is asking her readers to help her compile a list of 100 great punk songs. Her readers have come up with a lot of good songs, but for some reason they're mainly avoiding the classics. I'm talking about those scions of UK punk, the photonegative of the Beatles and Stones, the leaders of the '70s British Invasion - the Sex Pistols and the Clash. In this podcast, the two square off with five songs apiece. Each of these -- and more, especially from the Clash -- should be on a top 100 list. Don't you agree?
1. The Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant 2. The Clash - White Riot 3. The Sex Pistols - God Save the Queen 4. The Clash - (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais 5. The Sex Pistols - I Wanna Be Me (crappy bootleg) 6. The Clash - Clash City Rockers 7. The Sex Pistols - Holiday in the Sun 8. The Clash - Clampdown 9. The Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the U.K. 10. The Clash - Death or Glory
