Uncut lists greatest debut albums ever From Earvolution comes word that UK music magazine Uncut has named The Velvet Underground & Nico the greatest debut album in rock and roll history.
"Bearing an Andy Warhol designed cover, the VU's 1967 album has made up in influence what it lacked in overall sales. Brian Eno summed the album up best: 'Only a thousand people bought the first Velvet Underground album, but all of them went on to form a band.'"
Here's the complete list:
The Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Marquee Moon - Television
Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience (No. 1 in my book)
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Music From Big Pink - The Band
The Clash - The Clash (a close runner-up to Experienced from my view)
