'Comfortably numb': best guitar solo ever? As guitar solos go, Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" is pretty decent, I guess. But the best ever? That's what the readers at Planet Rock said in a recent poll of the best rock guitar solos. (Hat tip to Earvolution for pointing this out a couple of days ago. Shame on me for being so slow to pass it on to you.)
For me, it would have to be something by Hendrix (probably "Hey Joe," which clocks down all the way at No. 39, or "All Along the Watchtower," which is higher on the Planet Rock poll) or even "Free Bird," which clocks in at No. 3. Another of my favorites, "Layla," doesn't even make the list.
What about you? What's the best rock guitar solo in your book?
