Life-changing albums: 20 from J.R. Today's guest list of life-changing albums comes from J.R. Claiborn, who runs the funky, funny and topical podcast The Garage. Unfortunately, he hasn't put together a podcast of any of these yet, but maybe he will soon.
J.R. prefaces his list with this explanation:
I've put this "LIST OF 20 ALBUMS THAT HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE" off kinda for the last, Oh, I don't know 40 years cause it is a task that requires some thinking. But having said that; let me just add that music is the reason I haven't killed myself so far. I know what your saying to yourself. JR most of what you say is bullshit... and I'm not one to disagree with that. It's just that as far as I remember true ROCK GODS have killed themselves because of the music. It is like poison in that aspect. It is the real reason I am a singer/songwriter with no desire for the bigs. Like a sore pecker you can't beat it and if you did, it would probably kill ya.
So with that little note of encouragement I'll begin with this exclusive list which I am compiling for BLOGGEDY BLOG. If anyone tries to tie this to JR's Garage I'll deny it cause that fella over there is funny not serious.
Anyway.
Numbering 20 to 1. Then to Now.
This is the 20 albums that have changed my life and they aren't in any order other than when I thought of them. Part of these tunes I heard on 45's in the early stages of the molding of Jeffrey (that's really me) but now days they got them on CD and all together for your convince!
I've also picked my favorite song of of each. Giving the name of the album and the the song which is a clicker so's ya'll can take a look see...
My father loved the funny songs so I came by that honest.
Starting in the 60's as a 45 on my Dad's Victrola and going to LP, 8-Track Tape, Cassette.
(Here we go... Comin' at ya) [favorite spoken line from the LP Todd Rundgren - Something/Anything?]
