American Solar Challenge update Since I've been living, breathing, eating and sleeping solar car stuff these past few days, I thought I'd share a bit of my world with you. It looks like the UMR team could well be in first place in the American Solar Challenge by the end of the day. Our team spent the night Tuesday in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Bristow, Okla., and were in the lead for the day. (But the officials leads are cumulative times, which are calculated at "checkpoints," the next one being Edmund, Okla., which we should reach by noon or earlier today.) We began the day 22 miles ahead of the current first-place team, the University of Minnesota.
