The Post-Charismatic Project After a year of research and writing, a guy named Robby Mac has just launched the Post-Charismatic Project. He describes it as an effort to bring together, in the words of Charisma magazine editor J. Lee Grady, whom Mac quotes, "those of us who identify with the charismatic renewal ... to help rid our movement of its extra baggage."
The money quote, from my perspective:
It would probably be more accurate to not call these people post-charismatic, but rather post-HYPE. They are tired of hearing great stories about the good old days, jaded from hearing too many prophecies about the great move of God that seems to always be just around the corner, fed up with exaggerated or even fabricated stories of healings and miracles, and disillusioned with a view of spiritual formation that is lived through a weekly crisis moment at the front of the church.
I think this is a much needed project, and I look forward to exploring Robby Mac's site in more depth, and with sharing some of the insights from this site with fellow pilgrims in my local congregation.
