Interlude: 100 10 albums that changed my someone else's life
As part of this countdown of the 100 albums that have changed my life, I'm asking other bloggers and readers of this blog to share the top 10 albums that changed their lives. I'm enjoying reading the responses I've received. The lists are as eclectic as the bloggers themselves.
The first to respond to my call for lists was Brendan, of letting loose with the leptard. Here's his (unranked) top 10 list of life-changing albums:
Transformer - Lou Reed The Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - David Bowie The Clash (first album) Safe As Milk - Capt. Beefheart and the Magic Band Beggar's Banquet - The Rolling Stones Ah Um - Charles Mingus The Modern Dance - Pere Ubu Hatful of Hollow - The Smiths Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division 1969 Live - The Velvet Underground
He adds: "As you probably know, lists like these chop and change a good bit as one's whims and tastes change, and a comprehensive list of 100 favourites is probably a better idea (if a bit harder to execute). If you need more commentary, most of the albums are discussed around here: http://leptard.blogspot.com/2005/03/albumen.html and you're welcome to use what's there if you want."
Brendan offers thoughtful commentary on his choices -- and some 15 months prior to this exercise began.
Stay tuned for more readers' choices. And if you'd like to play along, email me at:
