A disheartening turnout at church this morning
I'm feeling bad for my pastor today. Earlier this week, he had planned a prayer service for today. But he was visibly discouraged by the poor turnout. Given the global situation, one would think more people would show up for such an opportunity. But the weather was nice and springlike, and it was no doubt a good day to get out. Shame on Mr. Bush for scheduling a war during such lovely weather, when we're too distracted by the opportunities to commune with nature to turn out for a solemn assembly. I think we should bill it as an all-you-can-eat breakfast. Free food -- that usually draws a crowd. Prayers services just don't have the same kind of appeal.
Honestly, I don't know what it's going to take for us to get over ourselves.
